If your 'Student' status of residence cannot be confirmed at our end, you will not be able to apply for tuition reduction or scholarship. If you have not submitted images of your most up-to-date residence card to us, please do so before applying.
■Tuition Reduction■

Tuition Reduction is an award offered by Ritsumeikan University meant to ease the fiscal burden of tuition fees on international students by covering all or a portion of those fees. Awards span from 20% Tuition Reduction all the way to 100%.

Important The Tuition Reduction scheme from the 2027 academic year onward is currently undecided. While changes from the current configuration are being planned, whether to enact changes or to retain the current format will be decided at a later date.

Ritsumeikan University Tuition Reduction for Privately-Financed International Students, Application Guidelines
【Undergraduates】 Tuition Reduction for first-year students is decided before enrollment. Continuously enrolled students can apply for it yearly in April or October according to their month of enrollment.
【Graduates】 100% Tuition Reduction is decided before enrollment, while 20% Tuition Reduction may be applied for after enrollment yearly in April or October, according to students' enrollment month.
【Undergraduates/Graduates】 Those who took a leave of absence or withdrew from university who are re-enrolling from a different semester from their initial time of enrollment may apply at the time of their re-enrollment.

■University-recommended Scholarships■

University-recommended scholarships are scholarships sponsored by private foundations and institutions for which applications must be done through the university. Students may apply for consideration yearly, in either April or October, in accordance with their month of enrollment. Scholarship-seekers who apply will be added to our potential candidates list. After an internal review, candidates nominated for a scholarship recommendation will be contacted by the International Center on a rolling basis throughout the year. (Depending on the foundation or institution providing the scholarship, the application period and announcement of results vary, so there is no pre-set date when nomination for scholarship recommendation, or scholarship selection results, are announced.)
