If you have received a job offer and wish to remain in Japan until your employment begins, you are permitted to change your status of residence to the “Designated Activities” one for the purpose of staying in Japan until the start of your employment, provided that certain requirements are met.
Please note that, in principle, the procedures for changing your status of residence after receiving a job offer are handled by the company that offered you employment. For details, please check the Immigration Bureau website and consult with your prospective employer.

Eligible Candidates
1. Eligibility
- Individuals residing in Japan under the status of residence “Student"
- Individuals residing in Japan under the status of residence “Designated Activities” for the purpose of continuing job hunting
2. Requirements
- The applicant must have graduated from, or completed the curriculum of an educational institution in Japan.
- Employment must begin within one year after receiving the job offer, and within one year and six months after graduation.
- The activities at the company must be expected to qualify for a change to a work-related status of residence such as “Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services.”
The applicant must have no problems with their current residency status.

The company offering the job must pledge to:
-Maintain contact with the prospective employee at regular intervals
-Promptly notify the Immigration Bureau if the job offer is withdrawn.
