RU offers the “Ritsumeikan University Study Abroad Challenge Scholarship” (referred to below as “Challenge Scholarship”)
and the “Ritsumeikan University Study Abroad Support Scholarship” (referred to below as “Support Scholarship”).
The features of each are as follows:
<Challenge Scholarship>
*available to all students who pass the screenings of the program applications.
・A system that encourages study abroad program participation and completion
・Subsidizes part of the participation fee (no repayment required)
・In principle, received by all program participants
・Can be combined with the Ritsumeikan University Study Abroad Support Scholarship
<Support Scholarship>
* International students can apply for the Scholarship only if they are not receiving “tuition reduction” at the time of Scholarship application.
*Graduate students can apply for the Scholarship if they study abroad under an agreement for student exchange unless such students have received a “Scholarship for Study Abroad Exchange Programs” for graduate students.

・A system that subsidizes part of the participation fee for students for whom participation in or continuation of a program may be difficult due to financial reasons
・No repayment required
・Application acceptance and selection conducted up until confirmation of acceptance into a study abroad program
・Can be combined with non-RU scholarships
*The eligible household income standard is 6 million yen or less (tax included) for salary income and 1.97 million yen or less for other income.
*Eligible programs include those offered by the International Center and other colleges/ RU educational institutions that are considered “study abroad” in terms of enrollment status.
(Study abroad programs with program length up to 31 days and programs that do not change enrollment status despite lasting 32 days or longer are not eligible.)
